Those times of the year that no teacher enjoys, testing is challenging, frustrating and often tedious. Unfortunately, there is not a lot that can be done to avoid them. Testing is necessary to ensure that we as educators are setting our learners up for success. That said, those old-fashioned paper tests don't have to be the future! Have a look below at some ways in which you can make testing a lot easier using Forms.
Based on Fred Schonell's The Essential Spelling List, the Schonell Spelling tests are 4, 50 word tests, designed to test a child's knowledge of 200 of the most commonly used words in the English language.
Traditionally a paper test, teachers would print off a test paper with space for 50 words, allocate to students and then collect to mark manually once the test had been completed. But through using Quiz Mode in Forms, this marking process can now be an automated one. The correct spelling of each word is added as an answer, with the ability to mark all other answers as incorrect. Meaning, the tests are marked automatically as soon as the learner hits submit!
Check out the examples of Forms below, make a copy for yourself and repurpose to suit your context. The dictation Doc under each test can be used to administer each test.
A diagnostic test designed to support teachers with teaching spelling, the Form is made up of 7 different sections. Administered a list at a time, the Form is set up with a section for each list.
